Overview: I had explored again our offerings and Bronx meetings. The Portaportal project is moving along nicely. However, the whole school community is still not on board. The three key people have created the portals and are adding links. Extra Support Needed:
I need to meet with the school's staff.
Questions/Comments: I will schedule a meeting with the principal to show him what have been created to engage the whole school community in the project.
Date: Thursday, School: X691, The Bronx Little School Principal: Janice Gordon Overview: A Small elementary school within a High School Building. Ms. Nancy Conforti is a computer/ technology teacher working full time with a mobile laptop carts she uses in the library. There are basically no computers or very old computers in the classroom that are not being used. Nancy Conforti offers various activities to the different grade level but can not reach the whole school. She is mainly working with the 5th grade. The school has purchased many programs and students use them regularly including: Oregon Trail, Kidspiration, photo Safari USA (geography and economics / SS),Cross Country USA, Are you smarter than a fifth grader?, Bailey’s book house(literacy), Millie’s math house, Sammy’s science house, Trudy’s time and place, Reader Rabbit Pre-K, K-2, Destination Reading I and II, Destination Math I and II and more.
Ms. Gordon and I had explored our website and PD offerings. I had also discussed with Ms. Gordon our monthly meetings. She will try to send someone but it is hard for her to make a commitment as her staff is small. Ms. Gordon is interested in onsite OWA PD or differentiated instruction.
